How to Change Your Backdrop on Roku TV
Transform your Roku TV into a personal art display or photo slideshow with just a few simple steps. Follow this guide to customize your screensaver, backdrop, or ambient mode so your TV shows beautiful images when idle.
1. Go to Your Roku Home Screen
Press the Home button on your Roku remote to open the main menu.
2. Select the “Settings” Option
Scroll down the left-hand menu and select Settings.
3. Choose “Theme” or “Wallpaper”
Depending on your Roku model, look for:
Theme → Screensaver / Wallpaper, or
Backdrops / Ambient Mode
(Some newer Roku TVs call this feature Backdrop, while others keep it under Screensaver.)
4. Pick a Backdrop Collection or Upload Your Own
You’ll have multiple options:
Choose from Roku’s built-in collections like Nature Scenes, Modern Art, or City Skylines.
Or, use the Roku Mobile App to upload personal photos directly from your phone.
5. Adjust Display Settings
Customize how your TV displays the backdrop:
Set how long it takes for the TV to enter Backdrop mode.
Adjust brightness levels.
Optionally display time or weather on your screen.
6. Enjoy Your New “Art TV”
When idle, your Roku now shows stunning artwork or personal photos instead of a blank black screen. It’s a cost-effective way to mimic high-end TVs like Samsung’s Frame — no extra devices or subscriptions required.
