One of the best ways to refresh a room without using paint is peel and stick wallpaper! It comes in so many different colors and designs to match any style! It can be fairly easy and inexpensive to install and it does not usually cause damage to the wall!
Adding new furniture is not a necessity especially if your child already has good quality furniture in their room! If new furniture is needed there are definitely options available that won’t deplete your entire budget! I always recommend getting furniture a child can continue to use as the grow so you don’t have to continue replacing it!
