Walgreens like many other brick-and-mortar drugstore chains are struggling due to declining reimbursement rates on drugs and competition from Amazon! In 2023 RiteAid filed for bankruptcy and CVS laid off thousands of employees! Walgreens is taking cost-cutting measures to return the focus to business as a retail pharmacy!
A full list of store closures has not been released yet but we do know 500 stores will shut doors in 2025 with more to follow within the next two years for a total of 1,200 stores closing! Some of these stores will be shutting down as soon as 2/24/2025!
