Summer is here- and that means it is time for one of my favorite things; SUMMER PICNICS! If you have never had a picnic with your kids you are missing out! This is one of the best summer activities! The best part is you can have a picnic for little to no cost! So let’s dive in and discuss my favorite picnic essentials!
The first thing you must have for a picnic is a blanket to sit on! I prefer waterproof outdoor blankets, but a beach towel or regular blanket also works well! This one folds up and has straps for easy carrying! It is waterproof and sandproof, and it is also oversized so it is large enough for multiple people!
Now you need a way to carry the food! I love this wooden picnic basket and it opens up into a little table! With this basket you can carry the food to your location and then set it up as a table to eat on!
Cold drinks are a must have for a hot summer picnic! I love to use a backpack cooler to carry cold food and drinks! A backpack cooler is so much easier because it frees your hands up to carry other things like the basket and blanket! This one has adjustable straps and it is leakproof and waterproof!
If you have kids then you know they need entertainment! I recommend using things you already have at home like bubbles, jump ropes, kites, balls and more! This can vary based on your child's interests! Another option is to have your picnic at the park where there is a playground or a bike trail to enjoy before or after the picnic!
The star of the show is obviously the food and the drinks! You will want to pack items that are easy to eat and transport! I recommend sandwiches, fruit and vegetables, bottled water, and juice boxes! You will also want to bring snacks like granola bars, pouches, fruit snacks, or other individually wrapped items! If your kids are like most they prefer snacks anyway!
You’ve got all the main things covered now what else do you need? I always recommend bringing sunscreen, bug spray, and wet wipes for any outdoor event with kids just in case! If you are missing any picnic essentials just make a quick trip to the store or use Walmart+ for free pick up and delivery!
